Recently, Intuit held its annual QuickBooks Connect show, where thousands of QuickBooks users and supporters attend to learn more about the product and how to grow their small business. On the second day of the show this year, CEO Brad Smith made some big announcements as to the future of QuickBooks and some changes that will be happening in the future.
The theme for the talk focused on the importance of the relationship between accountants and small business. He highlighted that the economy would not exist without the work that these two professions do together. Following Smith’s speech, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Intuit’s Small Business Group Sasan Goodarzi introduced the upcoming changes.
It seems that Google products are popular amongst QuickBooks users, since coming integrations focus on these tools. Intuit found that about 98 percent of businesses using QuickBooks are also using Excel or Google Sheets to manage their cash. Instead of forcing these small businesses to keep their information on separate and disparate systems, QuickBooks Online will now offer an integration to Excel and Google Sheets. This will cut down on a lot of time spent going back and forth between systems to analyze data. Intuit also found that about 60 percent of their QuickBooks users are using Google Calendar to track hours for invoicing their clients. To address this, Intuit will be creating an integration between QuickBooks Online and Google Calendar.
Further, QuickBooks users will now be able to approve bills they want to pay and when. In order to assess customer risk, QuickBooks users can see when a customer has opened an invoice and paid it.
For accountants and bookkeepers, some changes to QuickBooks Online Accountant will also be coming. Intuit is planning to give them the ability to automat and digitize all of their interactions with clients, basically giving them a tool for practice management. In addition, previous plans were announced to integrate QuickBooks Online Accountant with Intuit Online Tax, QuickBooks Online Self Employed and practice management abilities.
All of these plans that were announced at the QuickBooks Connect Show are going to make QuickBooks Online more powerful and easy to use for QuickBooks users.
